Intermediate Arabic with Sheikh Idris Watts Sundays 6pm – 8pm 7th February 2010 - 25th April 2010 at Abu Zahra Foundation [MAP ] Arabic is the foundation of our knowledge and an indispensable tool for any serious student of knowledge. To acquire a sound grammatical basis and to be able to read Arabic texts in the various Islamic Sciences is the ultimate goal of our Arabic programme. Based on Madina Book 2 you will get a fusion between the classical and modern approach to learning Arabic. The course will focus on three key areas of the Arabic language, Grammar (Nahu), Etymology (Sarf), Reading (Qira’) and the memorisation of vocabulary, translations of texts, and written exercises. The weekly class consists of instruction in the theoretical aspects of the course accompanied by excellent notes particularly written for this course by the teacher and re-visiting the homework from the previous week to ensure that concepts have been understood and firmly embedded. The class is highly interactive and students will also be given specially designed weekly homework assignments which will give you a unique learning experience. Students are required to be able to read (without understanding) and write Arabic competently. PLACES AVAILABLE (This is a continued course from last semester.
